Guess Where They Found The Seating At This Glittering Gatsby Vow Renewal

This ten year anniversary celebration alludes to Gatsby glamour with pre-loved, handmade, and thrift store treasures incorporated into the decor. Brooches in lieu of corsages, DIY bouquets and a handmade floral wall, a mirror from the bride’s grandmother re-purposed as a welcome message, and beautiful chairs that were a thrift store find added a heartwarming touch to Milton and Stephanie’s special day.

From the bride:

“Our Love Story:

Milton and I met 16 years ago at a fast food restaurant. What was supposed to be a quick stop for food, turned into a night of wonderful conversation. We have been inseparable every since. He originally proposed at my mother’s house. When we married, we had a cour(t)house wedding and a small reception at a local bed and breakfast facil(i)ty. As our 10 year anniversary approached, we knew that we wanted to celebrate by having the ceremony that we skipped 10 years prior. We were especially thrilled, because we would be able to include our children in the ceremony. Having them there meant so much to us.

Our Day:

Our ceremomy was beautiful. During our ceremony, we paid tribute to our grandparents who have passed. We also took time to present “gifts of love”, crystal encrusted heart pendants, to our daughters during the ceremony. We wanted to give them something that could one day be an heirloom to pass to their children.

Nostalgic crystal, the glimmer of gold, and the glitz of sequins graced our decor. DIYs were present in every aspect of our special day. From the bouquets and floral arrangements, to the wedding programs and the aisle runner. There were personal touches throughout. We also worked collectively to hand make the paper floral wall that we placed behind our sweetheart table. Our daughters’ flowing tutus were even a DIY. I especially wanted my grandmother, who had passed several years ago, to be a part of our special day. So I refurbished one of her ornate mirrors as a welcoming message to our guests as they arrived. I also included lilies in my floral decor, as that was her favorite flower. For my and Milton’s seating, I refurbished some chairs which I found at a local thrift store.

We chose to give nostalgic brooches to our parents, and grandparents, in lieu of floral corsages, because we wanted them to have something tangible that would always remind them of our special day. ”
